Logic board got replaced yet again and this time I actually noticed that the board design was different for some or other reason I now can't recall so there was obviously a revision at some point and I would be surprised if the first replacement was the exact same one from 2011 and thus the reason it conked out.Īll in all a rather unpleasant experience and if my company wasn't paying for it I would be making a real fuss about it. Machine came back with the original problem.this time I jumped up and down and got a brand new Macbook Retina to use while they worked on it.
#Apple macbook pro 2011 recall for free#
I of course sent it back immediately with the new issue and apparently it was the screen itself (betting they cocked it up during the repair) and that part was replaced allegedly for free by Apple. Logic board replaced the machine came back with a new problem which was that the screen would start "buzzing" under load. In my case the logic board was replaced.funnily enough after I told the techies EXACTLY what the problem was (being a certified Apple technician myself but a few versions behind) and they were blissfully unaware of this 2011 problem citing Mavericks as the concern which I had been running for three months on Developer Preview but the thing finally died 3 days after the final release and so they got stuck on that problem. R20k paper weight is all i have now.im screwed. How many people have forked out the cash for a new logic board without even knowing its a predisposed design flaw and peace of **** and not bothered to complain to apple i dont know. There is also a massive thread on apple support here Seems as is my macbook was doomed from the start.Īnybody else have graphics card issues in SA with this model? Both early and late 2011 have been widely reported to be flawed.Ĭheck out this site, kinda sums it all up. To my suprize i see a plethora of people complaining oline about this 2011 model of MacBooks. I get out my ipad and start looking for potential problems and fixes. Havent been able to get the machine back on again. so in my curiosity to check the graphics cards out I clicked on my gfxcardstatus application and switched from "dynamic" to "discreet only".big ****n mistake. So my macbook 2011 went all funny yesterday while playing a flash video.
